Are You Willing To Pay An Extra 30-40% On Your Electric Bill If It’s 100% Renewable Energy?

I am moving to Dallas, and in Dallas they have like 20 different electric companies and some offer 100% renewable energy such as Green Mountain. I come to the conclusion that the cost is about 30-40% more than ones who don’t use renewable energy. Do you think paying the difference is worth it?

I don’t know if I’d do that, 40% if kind of steep. It shouldn’t be an all or nothing thing though; ask the company if you can just pay to have like 25% or so come from renewables. That’s what I do.

You’re missing what you know should be on offer right now,
namely FREE abundant, clean, SAFE energy
    provided by renewable sources
    (solar, wind, water, wave…)
That’s because the electricity providers don’t want you to have FREE energy and they’re trying hard to convince everyone we must pay.
Truth is what they’re selling is a big con.
The providers would do the world a huge favour if they sold alternative energy equipment to domestic and business customers – there’s plenty of profit in that, and then we could all enjoy
    FREEDOM FROM UTILITY BILLS!
    and no Greenhouse gases…

My city has a clean energy program, which I have been part of for several years. I pay more to get my electricity from clean/renewable sources like wind and solar, I think it is between 5-8% more. I don’t think I would be willing to pay 30-40%. I think it is important to support clean/renewable energy, but most of us have finite incomes, so we need to find a balance.

No, I wouldn’t, as global warming is a myth.
However, so far as I’m concerned charging you more money for “renewable energy” is one of the best examples of cashing in on the green movement I’ve heard yet.

No, not all of us can afford the luxury of paying more. Given the choice between being green and being warm, I will take the environmentally unfriendly option.

    No.
Coal is renewable, you just can’t watch it renew.
